What Is Gynecology Surgery?
Gynecology surgery is often the best treatment option for some factors and conditions that prevent pregnancy. Many patients suffering from painful conditions and uterine abnormalities benefit from reproductive surgery. NewLife Fertility Center offers gynecology surgery at our Ontario fertility centers, including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. At NewLife Fertility, we aim to provide you with the least invasive fertility procedures possible. Technological advancements enable our physicians to perform delicate, specialized surgery minimally invasively, with most procedures lasting less than an hour.
What Does Gynecological Surgery Treat?
Depending on the presence of other factors, we often recommend gynecology surgery to increase the odds of a successful pregnancy. Gynecology surgery typically treats:
- Endometriosis
- Ovarian cysts
- Pelvic and/or intrauterine adhesions
- Uterine fibroids
- Endometrial polyps
- Fallopian tube disease and obstruction
- Scar tissue
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Congenital anomalies of the pelvic organs
Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure examining abdominal and reproductive organs. It is best used to treat endometriosis, ovarian cysts, scar tissue, fibroids, blocked fallopian tubes, and ectopic pregnancies. During a laparoscopy, we insert a tube containing a video camera through a small abdominal incision of about 5-12 mm. Our fertility doctors can easily view images of the abdominal and pelvic organs without a need for major surgery. A laparoscopy enables us to locate any blockages in the fallopian tubes or find any abnormalities that may cause female infertility. We can also collect tissue samples during a laparoscopy.
It is used to treat:
- Endometriosis
- Ovarian cysts
- Fibroids
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Blocked or damaged Fallopian tubes
- Correction of scar tissue
Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that does not require any incisions. Most women can resume normal activities immediately following a hysteroscopy. It is best used to treat polyps, fibroids, scar tissue, abnormally heavy uterine bleeding, and uterine septum problems. During a hysteroscopy, we insert a small tube to examine the inside of the uterus and cervical canal. Our fertility doctors can remove fibroids, polyps and uterine cavity scar tissue through the hysteroscope.
